Freelance Talent Development Advisor
Joëlle was HR Project Consultant at The Europe Hospitals, a group of three hospitals based in and around Brussels. The focus was on job design and crafting. She also led a similar project at the University Hospital Brussels and worked as a Change Coach at Delhaize. She recently did a project as a Talent Management Consultant at Esri Belux. All via Balance HR.

A fine relationship as old colleagues
Joëlle kicked off her career as a freelancer in 2012. Joëlle and Edward of Balance HR were old colleagues. “When I was an employee, Edward used to work as a freelancer at the same place,” Joëlle recalls. “We kept in touch. When he started Balance HR, he found a sparring partner in me.”
Biggest benefit? Proximity!
“I feel more at peace as a freelancer,” Joëlle says. “I feel free and in charge. And the direct contact with my clients creates strong relationships. Being a freelancer is sometimes associated with insecurity and a certain stress. But if you like to network, keep developing yourself and surround yourself with correct partners, there’s no reason for that.”
For Joëlle, proximity is what drives her collaboration with Balance HR. “You really get to know each other and open communication is highly valued. Assignments are always clear and well suited to my ambitions and strengths.”
Due to her busy schedule, Joëlle works for Balance HR on an ad hoc basis. “I value our partnership. Balance HR respects my pricing and takes care of the practicalities. I feel like they defend my interests as a freelancer.”
